The Harrison Police Department issued an alert at approximately 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27 that they were attempting to stop a driver who was failing to comply with officers being taken on a chase.

Police said that the chase started in Harrison before advancing to Forest Avenue in Rye and Grace Church Street in Port Chester.

According to the Port Chester Police Department, officers were stationed at the Village line and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to comply and pull over.

Officers proceeded to follow the vehicle, but ultimately stopped attempts to chase him “due to his actions.”

Police said that the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn at the intersection of Mill Street and Abendroth Avenue in Port Chester, striking a vehicle before fleeing onto Horton Avenue, at which point he struck another car.

The driver - later identified as Harrison resident Aaron Jackson - then struck a pole and his vehicle became disabled. Jackson attempted to flee on foot through storage lots, but officers were flagged down by passing vehicles to his whereabouts.

When officers attempted to take Jackson into custody, it is further alleged that he resisted arrest, pushed an officer during the struggle, and attempted to grab his weapon before he was subdued.

Jackson was charged with multiple offenses, including:

  • Unlawful fleeing of a police officer;
  • Resisting arrest;
  • Possession of forged instruments;
  • “A gambit of traffic charges.”

“Luckily no one was injured due to the conduct of this individual,” a police spokesperson said. “We thank the residents for their support during this incident.”
